Maria Tagaris Goes Viral Finding Her Voice

Markos Papadatos spoke with 10-year-old Greek-American singer Maria Tagaris. She sat down and chatted about her love for performing, and singing “Athina Mou” for Greek pop superstar Konstantinos Argiros, and it went viral.

On performing for Konstantinos Argiros at the Holy Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Brookville, Maria shared, “That felt really amazing! I really couldn’t believe that I was standing next to Konstantinos singing.”
Maria is drawn to Argiros’ music to several reasons. “I love his voice. I love his style and I really like his dances,” she said.

Maria went on to list “Athina Mou” and “KABANES” as her two personal favorite songs of his.
Speaking of Konstantinos Argiros, she listed him as her dream duet choice in music. “Konstantinos was probably one of the first singers who introduced me to music,” she said.
Not only was her vocal performance well-received, her video went viral, touching Greeks and fans all over the globe.
Regarding her future plans, Maria shared, “I will probably try to become a professional singer and follow my dreams in music.”
Maria admitted that it “feels really good” to be a part of the Greek-American community in the United States. “I think without Greek music, I wouldn’t be here doing this,” she noted.

Maria defined the word success as follows: “Success means accomplishing a goal and moving on with my life and being proud of myself.”
She opened up about her Greek heritage. “My father is from Peloponnese, which is from my Papou’s side. Then, my yiayia is from Athens, and my mom is Bulgarian.”
For her new fans and supporters, Maria expressed, “I would like to say thank you for supporting me. I hope one day I get to become a huge star, and I hope you guys are still watching me sing. Thank you!”

10-year-old Greek-American singer Maria Tagaris recently performed for Greek pop superstar Konstantinos Argiros at the Holy Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Brookville on Long Island. She left everyone in total awe of her talent.
This event was a part of Argiros’ pop-up events in New York, which were in support of his latest studio album “KABANES.”

Maria sang a few verses of his signature song “Athina Mou” a cappella, and in doing so, she was able to blow everyone away, including Konstantinos Argiros himself, the fans at the actual event, this journalist, and the viewers who were tuning in from home (because the video clip has gone viral, and rightfully so.
Maria Tagaris absolutely stole the spotlight with her incredible singing performance for Konstantinos Argiros. She sang in Greek, which is impressive in and of itself, and she maintained great control over her crisp, crystalline voice.
She brought so much passion and emotion to Argiros’ signature song, and it was neat to hear it sung from a young female perspective.
Maria did not appear nervous at all, and she was completely in her element. Despite being in the presence of a Greek pop mega-star (such as Argiros), she held her own with confidence and grace as she displayed her immense talent and powerful vocal range.
This was such a heartwarming moment where Maria Tagaris was able to put smiles on people’s faces and leave everybody in goosebumps. In this day and age, smiles, levity, and positivity are desperately needed.
Overall, the people might have gone to the Holy Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church as fans of Konstantinos Argiros, but they also left as fans of Maria Tagaris as well.
