Markos Papadatos interviewed Jonathan Bennett about “Finding Mr. Christmas” Season 2 on Hallmark.
On the new season of "Finding Mr. Christmas," Bennett exclaimed, “Season 2 of ‘Finding Mr. Christmas’ is the show that is made by the fans for the fans of Hallmark Christmas movies.”
“How do we find the leading man that is going to be the new leading man of the network? We are letting the fans and the audience in on that process,” he noted.
“So, if you love Hallmark Christmas movies, this is the unscripted show that you’re not going to want to miss,” he explained. “That is what ‘Finding Mr. Christmas’ is all about. We are searching the world for Hallmark’s next leading man,” he added.

For the Season 2 contestants, Bennett wanted them to win America over. “I think I walked up to them and said, ‘Win America and don’t worry about winning the show.’ I said that to each of them in their SUVs before they entered the house, because they’re all lined up in SUVs. It’s very secret service-like. They can’t see each other,” he explained.
Bennett also wants the contestants to bring their own personality to their work. “That’s actually exactly what we’re looking for,” Bennett admitted. “If you look at the Hallmark universe, Tyler Hynes plays Tyler Hynes. Paul Campbell plays Paul Campbell. Everyone plays versions of themselves. It’s very important to go and bring yourself to the role and then add the layers of the character over it,” Bennett said.
“At the end of the day, we’re looking for you to be part of this legacy, and that means you’re going to be playing versions of yourself for years,” Bennett added.
His new Hallmark holiday movie “A Keller Christmas Vacation” premiered on Sunday, November 9 on the Hallmark Channel.

The synopsis is: Siblings Dylan, Cal, and Emory are at a crossroads in their lives and have drifted apart. To help, their parents plan a family Christmas river cruise visiting Germany and Austria. Brandon Routh and Jonathan Bennett play brothers in this holiday film.
On filming this movie, Bennett remarked, “It was great. We got to go to Vienna and shoot in the different Christmas markets all around Europe! We got to go on a river cruise on a boat, so we have this amazing background of the European Christmas markets at Christmas where we actually filmed in real time.”
“We got to juxtapose that with sibling rivalry and dysfunctional family in the middle of all of the beauty,” Bennett said.
On working with Brandon Routh as his on-screen brother, he said, “It was great working with him. Now, we want to make another film.”
On the forthcoming fan events for Hallmark fans, Bennett expressed, “I am excited for the Hallmark Christmas Cruise. We have the Hallmark Kansas City experience, and we have Christmas Con in New Jersey. Starting Thanksgiving Day, I go on tour and save Christmas around the country. Santa needs backup sometimes, and that’s what we are here for at Hallmark.”
